Plan Updates!

Thank you to everyone who has continued to engage in the Mequon Commons Master Plan process. Since our second public workshop in September, the project team has been refining the master plan based on community feedback and direction from the Common Council.

Refined master plan concepts were presented to the Common Council’s Committee of the Whole on Tuesday, January 13, incorporating input from earlier workshops, stakeholder conversations, and the Council’s October guidance. Feedback from this meeting is informing the final round of refinements, including plan details, phasing strategies, cost considerations.

The project team will return to the Committee of the Whole in on April 14th to present the Final Master Plan Report.

Your Mequon Commons!

A Vision for the Future of Our Civic Campus

For years, places like the Community Pool, City Hall, Weyenberg Library, and Rennicke Field have served as pillars for our city. Now, it's time to come together and create a bold, vibrant vision for the future.

Mequon Commons: To be envisioned as a dynamic civic destination, blending the elements of a community Hub, civic commons, public square, and more. The name Mequon Commons refers to a space that shall serve as the heart of Mequon, accommodating a mix of social, cultural, civic, and recreational activities.

Through this plan, we’ll create a blueprint for enhancing these spaces, providing a guide for the City to make gradual improvements over time. The goal is to transform the Civic Campus into a year-round destination that is welcoming, connected, and responsive to the evolving needs of Mequon’s residents and visitors.

Mequon Commons:

A 30-Year Plan for a Vibrant Civic Campus

Mequon Commons is the name of our exciting Master Plan that will guide the transformation of the Civic Campus over the next 30 years. Over the next year, we’ll engage with the community, collaborate with stakeholders, and work through phases of planning and design to craft a Master Plan that guides the development of the Civic Campus. This is more than just a park renovation—it’s a holistic vision that includes enhancing recreational spaces, strengthening community connections, and revitalizing our beloved public facilities. By April 2026, the completed Master Plan will serve as a road map for the Civic Campus’s development over the next 30 years.

Why 30 Years?

A Master Plan is a bold, long term vision that unfolds over many years, as illustrated in the graphic above. This strategic, phased approach ensures that each step is well integrated, achievable, and aligned with the long term goals of the community. Together, we will create a vibrant Civic Campus - a place that connects us to nature, to each other, and to the heart of Mequon.

With thoughtful collaboration, careful planning, and a commitment to the community’s future, the Civic Campus will evolve over time into a hub for all ages; growing along side us for generations to come. Let’s dream big, and make it happen together!
